Daily Volunteers

  • Washing up

  • Cooking

  • Laundry

  • Sandwich & picnic making

  • Cleaning

Daily volunteers provide the day-to-day support during the camp. All the tasks are organised on a rota which means volunteers can commit as much or as little time as they are able to. Great if you want to get involved, but don’t have much time!

The Camp Director and Camp Managers are adults and are all unpaid. The Camp Leaders are young adults. The Tent and Assistant Tent Leaders are students, most of whom are from local schools or university. Some of the Young Leaders have helped run the camp for a number of years.

Facilities Volunteers

  • Putting up/taking down tents & marquee

  • Moving and setting up equipment

  • Setting up electrics/plumbing

  • Cleaning and prepping equipment

Facilities volunteers help to get camp equipment set up and ready. This often takes place the weekend the before camp 1 and on a couple of evenings (volunteers come along whenever they can, depending on their availability). It might sound like a lot of heavy lifting but there is always plenty of tasks to suit everyone.

Each year around 150 volunteers play their part to make the camps a success and we wouldn’t be where we are today without them.

Our committee work throughout the year to recruit and plan for the upcoming camps, our Young Leaders work with dedication to make the children’s holiday the best it can be, and our Daily Volunteers cook, wash-up, make sandwiches, do laundry and help with many other tasks on and around camp to ensure they run smoothly.

We are always looking for new volunteers who might be interested in taking part, so if you are interested, don’t hesitate to get in touch. Even if you only have a couple of hours free, there is something for everyone.

Night Security Volunteers

  • Stay over night to ensure the safety of the children (ie. No one unauthorised comes on site)

  • Work in pairs and shifts

Night Security Volunteers are based on site every night to ensure the safety of the children. Volunteers are organised on a rota and in shifts, which means that you are able to do as many nights/shifts as you would like.
